Finals Finals Finals

Standard

Sooo I have survived yet another semester and I have found myself studying for hours at a time for my dreaded finals. Being cooped up in my house all day is not helping me focus either, and I find myself munching out of boredom and desperation in the hopes of making the day go faster and the studying not so bad. From Cheetos to chocolate, it helps take the pain away from staring at hours upon hours of accounting. However, there is a much healthier way to survive finals week, and I am here to provide the answers!

Ever feel like no matter how much you eat or coffee and Red Bulls you drink you just can’t seem to have the energy to go on? Feeling groggy can actually be the result of the substance you’re putting in your body. Munching on chips and candy, can give you short time energy; however it won’t power you through your day. Try eating a peanut protein bar or having a handful of almonds. Protein gives you long-term energy that will help you stay awake and alert. Also, don’t forget to eat breakfast! If your just studying that day or have a test, breakfast starts your day off right and studies have shown it increases attention and short-term memory. Try to balance your day with whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and lean protein. This not only will make you feel great, but can also keep you fueled throughout a long test or study session.

During finals week, stress can overcome your whole week. One way to make sure that doesn’t happen is to get out and exercise. Exercise has been proven to make people feel happier and less stressed. Plus it’s a nice study break! You can also do a lot of other things to get away from your desk and de-stress. Ask a friend to go on a walk with you, or make a quick trip to the mall or the pool. Being out in the daylight naturally makes people feel more energized. Just make sure you don’t get caught up too long and forget to study! Good luck on finals and may the curve ever be in your favor!
